Sora Suikazura in native Hingashi translates loosely to "sky" and "honeysuckle blossom", making her translated name "Heavenly Honeysuckle", respectively. Purchased from a poor rice farmer's widow at less than six years old, Sora has been raised in the seclusion of a Courtesan's training. Reserved exclusively for service among the elites of Kugane, the economic warfare waged amongst themselves to buy out her contracts were legendary. Little was as auspicious as the spoiled and wealthy among nobles, merchants, and foreign dignitaries able to claim the bragging rights and status of having this rare gem of the Far East beside them, a perfect ornamental piece of entertainment to cement societal status.Stories tell of her exquisite beauty: hair black and glossy as raven's wings contrasting luminous, pale eyes the blue of aetheryte crystals. Skin a fair, peachy-cream boasts not one single blemish, the Raen's scales shimmer in palest gold iridescence, wrapping a tiny stature riding the knife's edge between a near fragile frame and the lithe but luscious figure of a seductress. Duels ensued over comparing the color of her most intimate places to the hues of cherry, plum and peach blossom petals, the fragrance of her skin and the nectar of her body that of the honeysuckle flower which is her namesake.Notably, tall tales don't simply center on her wide spectrum of boudoir prowess and unending stamina, but also speak of her having expertly slain attackers on numerous occasions intent to harm her contracted master or mistress...with little more than the blades hidden upon her person. No other courtesan today can claim having charmed their way into service of two Imperial households in her associations with both Hingashi and Doman royalty, the bakufu military elites of Kugane, and the Garlean Imperials of the north. Little else is known about her early history besides rumors and gossip that are perhaps too romanticized, explicit, and embellished to be believed of such a refined and sophisticated young lady. (Or are they?)These days, she only offers short term contracts as a Courtesan at grossly exorbitant sums, much of which goes towards her charitable ventures. She is rumored to now spend much of her time advocating charitable works to aide war orphans and the families torn asunder when dynamis turned terrified loved ones into monsters they were forced to then slay, and the nigh unending restoration efforts in her homelands. (She is, herself, an orphan of war, after all.) More affordable are her consulting services for returning what has been lost or stolen, to include reuniting separated family members and the return prized heirloom items. So too, her services as an arbiter - helping resolve issues of conflict without violence, as an unbiased third party - have seen an increased demand. Divinations via tarot card readings, she offers at no charge. It's said she's very much enjoying the novelty of attending public venues away from Hingashi, where she is not easily recognized. Anyone who does happen to recognize the tiny courtesan will see easily enough for themselves how she delights in being able to blend in and live this new more 'normal' life, untroubled by the past.

Information Regarding the Traditional Japanese Courtesan
“Men were led to think[sic] ...these tricky femme fatales who could trap you... They could pretend to be in love with you but not really be in love with you. You really want to spend time with them, but at the same time, you need to be on your guard, which makes it all the sexier. Those sorts of stories were repeated again and again in books over the course of the centuries [sic].”
The Yoshiwara pleasure district was just part of what the Japanese referred to as “ukiyo” or “the floating world,” which also included the Kabuki theaters of Edo. Originally, the Buddhist term “ukiyo” referred to the sorrow and grief caused by desire [sic].[...The] women involved didn’t have a choice about their occupation. Born into impoverished farming or fishing villages, they were sold to brothels by desperate parents around the ages of 7 or 8. ... [Their] parents, [sic] usually brokered 10-year contracts with the brothel owners that their girls would have to work off. The little girls would do daily chores at the brothels and tended to their “sister” courtesans, cleaning and delivering messages. In those early years, they’d learn the tricks of the trade, how to speak using manipulative language, to write “love letters,” and to fake tears with a bit of alum hidden in their collars.If a child attendant proved she was gifted by age 11 or 12, she would be chosen for elite courtesan training, where she would learn etiquette and refined arts from masters, including how to play flute or a three-stringed instrument called a samisen, to sing, to paint, to write haiku, to write in calligraphy, to dance, to perform a tea ceremony, and how to play games like go, backgammon, and kickball. She would be well-read and literate in order to engage in stimulating conversation.
“They would be trained in the very polite, cultural accomplishments of the type that aristocratic women would have. ... The idea was that they were comparable to the wife of a daimyo [feudal lord] or a high-ranking samurai [warrior] in terms of their level of accomplishment. The elite courtesans were supposed to know all of the lady-like skills, and their skill level was keyed to how much space they would have in a brothel and how lavish their clothing was. It was a very carefully calibrated hierarchy.”
The highest of level of all, the “tayū” courtesans were revered as fashion plates and celebrities. The tayū lived in the refined “ageya” or “house of assignation,” whose interiors resembled the most upscale Edo homes, with hanging scroll art, shelves displaying pricey curios, alcoves for studying, and lovely gardens.
If a tayū gained the favor of an affluent client, [they] would provide her with the latest fashions four times a year. These included kimonos made of luxurious fabrics like silk satin, brocade, velvet, and open-weave ramie. They’d feature patterns such as floral and water motifs and breathtaking landscapes made with dyes and embroidery using silk and metallic threads. The tayū advertised their services with a daily procession through Yoshiwara, walking slow, exaggerated, figure-eight steps in tall wooden clogs. Their faces whitened and hair done up in the latest sculptural style, the courtesans would flaunt their fancy duds, which telegraphed their status, as well as the wealth of their patrons. In addition to the clothing, a well-heeled patron would give a courtesan a futon and sumptuous bed covers as a way of asserting his relationship with her was unique. This bedding would only be used when he visited. [sic]The wives of the daimyo and high-ranking samurai, following Confucian ideals, were expected to dress modestly and served their husbands, while the feudal lords looked to courtesans to find passion and love. The clients wanted to believe that their favorite courtesans were in love with them, and they were sold as such. Oni of Vengeance
The legend of Torami says this tiny assassin 'hunts' exclusively within Hingashi and Doma, Kugane especially. Only those guilty of preying upon the weak and defenseless of their fellows speak of the shadow prowler Torami with fear. Among the innocents that steer clear of criminal activities, excited whispers ring of open admiration, this killer of bad men seen as a protective spirit. Common folk with no where else to turn would leave an offering alongside the name or depiction of those whose evil deeds went unseen and unanswered by the Sekiseigumi.
In present times, souls with pure intentions can still bid Torami for help, if they know where or whom to ask. There is a secret seaside shrine where supplicants leave offering and scrips of paper with names and renderings of victims and the perpetrators in order to invoke the so-called Oni. The renowned Courtesan, Sora Suikazura, has been another known point of contact. Rumors suggest the two are related; one sister sold into indentured service as a Courtesan, the other the other tribute to the highly secretive and mystical world of the Shinobi, slain in service and reborn a demon huntress. Those who inquire overmuch about what links courtesan and the killer tend not to live long, thereafter.More than one reputable establishment in Hingashi or Doma may have their own version of a story to tell: their stolen daughter returned to them, the perpetrators' corpses never fully recovered; the priceless family heirloom taken by local gangsters returned intact, alongside a mobile made of those thieves' thumbs hung over their home's front entrance; the head of a man who'd been asking around to buy a child for unscrupulous reasons set on a pike in the public square with his intimate bits stuffing his mouth like some roast boar's apple and at its buried base the symbols denoting 'pedophile' formed by his entrails in Hingashi symbols (translated from "child - love - perversion").Those travelling among the Eastern lands with wicked intent beware: anyone could be watching, listening, taking notes...making offering to the Oni of Vengeance to ensure your accounting.

For over a decade, the Imperial family of Garlemand's northern Empire has sanctioned and funded a secret, dual military and scientific program. As various Allagan artifacts have been unearthed, studied and adapted to Garlean Magitech, a device to alter the very fabric of a mortal vessel came to the fore. Through years of careful study and experimentation, a formula was developed to ensure absolute obedience and loyalty to the cause of Garlemald.Subjects were selected from the children and youths of regions across the world, the thinking that young bodies and minds were more easily moldable. Subjected to intense training regiments alongside intense mental conditioning, subjects would be broken down and rebuilt via the Phoenix device to the mission parameters, being reborn as the mythical fire bird rising from the ashes anew. Less than 10% of subjects survived the first five years of the program. With the fall of Garlemald and its Imperial War Machine, Project Phoenix collapsed in on itself. Handlers were no longer able to control or contain their respective subjects. The Phoenix devices, whatever they were, are confirmed destroyed, and without their use to wipe the minds of the subjects, they remained aware of all they'd endured. All known parties to the program have been eliminated, sometimes demonstratively and gruesomely, their blood and entrails used to effect imagery of the Phoenix as if to send a message to any lingering Imperials aware of the program. A handful of subjects are believed to remain, but their identities are redacted.While it is thought that Sora Suikazura may have been a subject of Project Phoenix, there is no concrete proof to confirm suspicions. All attempts to uncover further information have elicited swift and severe responses, the resulting loss of life, materials and disrupted logistics so excessively disproportionate, further inquiries have been unilaterally barred on all fronts.

A survivor chosen as tribute, conscripted to serve his Garlean conqueror, Datrim was lauded for his clerical skills and his civilized manner as a 1st generation city-born Viera. He was raised on the stories and principles of his mother's people, told at the hearth's warming light on storming nights in Dalmasca - only the strong may reign. It made accepting this new role of indentured servitude a little less bitter a thing to accept.

The Garlean scientist he was claimed in service to also claimed oversight of the service contract of a young Raen girl. Lady Suikazura was still considered as a child, when witnessing the fall of Gjarsamialf Datrim's seaside port town. Still awaiting the appearance of what would grow in as adult front teeth, the girl struggled to pronounce the Rava's given name, and thus, he was known thereafter as simply "Datrim".The pair shared a bond of bonded servitude. Sora filled the hole of Datrim's family, killed in collateral damage of the sacking of his home town. Even though his role serving their shared master was of lesser rank than the child being groomed to become Tayu in Kugane, Datrim bore witness from afar every trial and indignity of her progression and found inspiration from that girl child's indomitable spirit. Datrim became a most trusted ally for the young lady, such that when their Garlean master was tragically slain in the implosion of his lab, Datrim swore the remainder of his service contract to young Courtesan, who by then had indeed achieved that much sought for elevated status among her peers.
These days, Assistant Datrim can be found out and about in the world, sent on fetch quests and making deliveries for the vaunted Lady Suikazura. He passes out her card to viable candidates for private protection services and arranges meetings between the Courtesan and her supplicants. Taking immense pride in his work, in his tiny mistress, he is a dour figure staring always in silent judgement, yet rarely uttering a word that is not required of him in anything less that absolute professionalism.

Hi! I'm Celestia and I have nearly 2 decades of experience writing professionally and just for fun. You will notice I am a big goofy nerd and not at all the svelte femme fatale I write as Sora. I love roleplaying online in video games and writing privately on various forums (discord, mostly). I like ALL styles of RP; from one-shot sessions to in-depth story arcs spanning months and years; from every-day "slice of life" to in-depth character exploring dialogue, from casual "in character" RP-friendly venues to turn-based combat (with or without /random rolls); from support role writing, to "DMing" scenes and settings and writing for multiple characters in a scene; from family-friendly/silly/new RPer-friendly sessions, to titillatingly detailed erotica. This last is probably my best offering for interactive writing if I'm being bluntly honest, but I don't see that as a bad thing. When life's demands don't let me write with others, I wind up writing stories for my characters because I love writing so much!If you choose to write with me, you can expect multi-paragraph posts that focus on sensory details, emotions, and offer insights into the character beyond what's immediately apparent or known by other participants. It's very important to have clearly established boundaries. I don't require rolls to "keep things fair" in combative RP, but I will follow what my writing partner prefers. I really appreciate knowing what those I write with like and hope for in a scene as well as what they DON'T like. I expect you to speak up: I won't have a negative reaction if you're ever uncomfortable or want to try something you're unsure of in the RP. In regards to ERP: You should also be aware that I am more mature and text-based in my writing than the average "gooner bench" RPer in Ul'dah. I'm a devoted "good girl" wife and mom IRL. Keeping the story being written for the characters separate from our interactions as collaborative writers is very important to me. While the appropriate 'lewdy' emotes are available for use upon request, I do not want codes to blue tooth sex toys. If you want dirty talk to be part of dialogue that should be outlined in a consultation for the roleplay writing - I only flirt harmlessly and am fine to talk about sex but I do not want to cyber with anyone, person-to-person; I have my person till-death-do-us-part and I won't disrespect that OOC.
